The algo update season seems to come more frequently than you might expect. However, that’s probably more perception than reality. The industry bloggers and websites that cover digital marketing topics often write about predictions of algorithm updates– what’s coming, when it’s coming, why it’s coming, who could be affected, and what to do if and when it happens.
In truth, Google algorithm updates like Google Panda and Google Penguin happen when they happen. However, it does seem that there is a May algorithm update and refresh and another in October. That is the pattern that we’ve seen over the course of the updates. A Google Panda update rolled out in July though…so that kind of messes with that theory. Google is anything but predictable, as anyone in the SEO reseller space can attest. Lots of people nodding their heads in agreement to that statement 🙂
